THE LADIES AT TRAXX GIRLS and Another Family Affair are constantly working to reinvent themselves, which shows most notably in their regularly revamped weekly schedules and themes. Traxx Girls’ Megan Leigh looks at it as a way to keep the ladies who attend their parties on their toes, and July’s Freaknik-themed parties are no exception.

The events are in no way associated with previous incarnations of the name “Freaknik,” but Leigh says the infamous annual event had a fun association that she thinks Traxx Girls’ patrons will relate to.

“It’s hot, and Freaknik is usually really hot, so we felt like it meshed well,” she says.

As part of Traxx Girls’ Freaknik July line-up, the promoters present special editions of their weekly Frisky Fridays parties at Club Miami. Following a July 4 Wet T-shirt Contest, the parties pick up on themes like Fashion Takeover and Beach Party, as well as a cue from Traxx Girls’ Sunday night event, Showtime.

For Fashion Takeover, Leigh says she and her fellow coordinators like to give up-and-coming Atlanta designers a chance to show off their styles.

“I’m not sure what designers it’ll be yet, but it’s a short fashion show, fashion friendly," she adds. "It’ll be lots of different styles and looks.”

As far as Beach Party is concerned, Leigh promises hot ladies showing off swimwear for cash prizes, which never fails to please Traxx Girls' patrons.

IN ADDITION TO fashion shows and contests, Frisky Fridays also feature performances. Due to limited time, performers must test their mettle at Traxx Girls’ aforementioned Sunday night throwdown, Showtime, hosted by V103 radio personality Ms. Sophia.

“On Fridays, we have very short shows,” she says, “so you can’t really be new. You have to perform on Sundays first to perform on Fridays.”

Showtime features talent of all types.

“It’s a variety show, so we have lip syncers, imitators," she says. "We have live entertainers like rappers and performers; we have exotic dancers; we have regular dancers that have routines they want to come show off.

"Anything goes. If you want to show off your talent, this is where you come and do that.”

Traxx Girls also introduces two new nights to its weekly line-up in July. Monday night’s Amateur Contest at the Body Tap features cash prizes for the crowd-favorite amateur dancer, and Thursday’s Fever features wine, martinis, and tapas.

Leigh says the July events all add up to nothing less than an awesome month for the ladies.

“Lots and lots of work, but very exciting," she says. "I know all the events are going to be very hot, and people are going to have so much fun. They come to our parties to have fun, dance all night, have fun with their friends, and hang out. It’s great.”
