The gay drama never seems to end on the set of “Grey’s Anatomy.”
Following the unceremonious ousting of BROOKE SMITH, who was canned after her character took a lesbian turn, real-life gay T.R. KNIGHT might be off the show as well. But this time, it is he who is breaking it off, not the “Grey’s” execs.
Sources say Knight, who plays the loveable (and straight) Dr. George O’Malley, has become disenchanted with his character’s story and has asked to be released from his contract. Rumors swirl about Knight walking off the set, bidding farewell and saying he would not return.
Dish must admit that we’ve seen less and less of Dr. O’Malley in recent episodes, but we’d like to remind Knight that in these difficult economic times, perhaps it’s best to stay put and keep your mouth shut.
Knight’s tenure on “Grey’s Anatomy” has been tumultuous: first he was called “faggot” by co-star ISAIAH WASHINGTON. Then once he was outed, Knight — who is in his 30s — started dating an adorable teenager, which is always more stressful than you think it will be.
Lepore likes strong wood
Answering the age-old question, “If PARIS HILTON and JENNIFER LOPEZ can do it, why can’t I” — AMANDA LEPORE, America’s favorite post-op transsexual socialite, has developed her own signature fragrance line, an eau de parfum simply titled “Amanda.”
At the ultra-hip celeb feeding frenzy known as Art Basel Miami Beach, Lepore unveiled the new fragrance, which is said to contain hints of “Cristal champagne,” “strong woods” and “red lipstick.”
Alas, the reviews for the fragrance aren’t kind. Sources at Art Basel say they experienced a sampling of the fragrance -and their interpretation of the aroma? “It smells like plastic,” said one partygoer. Perhaps this person was just smelling Lepore’s own natural aroma. Dish imagines Lepore has so much plastic in her, she is now microwave-safe.
The parfum’s disturbing aroma may not be the biggest obstacle to its success — each bottle is ensconced in almost 1,000 Swarovski crystals, and as a gift set retails for $950.
Gay for an O’Day
AUBREY O’DAY, former member of MTV-manufactured girl group DANITY KANE, recently showed up at a press event with another woman and introduced her as “my girlfriend.”
According to Page 6, O’Day seemed to be making a political statement against Proposition 8, but now the buzz is all over the Internet as fans drool over the idea of the pop starlet engaged in Sapphic hanky panky.
But those fans are a rather gullible bunch: Her Royal Blondeness reached the pinnacle of MTV reality-show fame — admittedly not a very high peak — when she was cut from the show “Making The Band.” Now that her solo career isn’t taking off, O’Day is suddenly claiming an interest in same-sex relationships.
When questioned on whether she would marry her girlfriend, O’Day skirted the topic: “We don’t need a piece of paper to validate our relationship.”
Dish suggests that an actual romantic interest in each other would be a good place to start.
